Special thanks to Michael Ernst at Philadelphia Roamin’ Catholic for permission to post a couple of pictures from St. Paul’s Parish on this blog.  The header photo is actually from Santa Maria Magdalena della Pazzi, which is twinned with St. Paul’s and happens to be the first Italian ethnic parish in the United States of America.  The sanctuary is not original but the building itself is breathtakingly magnificent, a towering edifice in the midst of a residential neighborhood on a one-lane street.  If you ever come to Philadelphia, it’s worth it to come to the Italian Market area and, after getting some good food, wandering over to see this building.  It’s usually locked but I still think it’s worth a visit.  There is a weekly Sunday Mass there at 10am.
